7.4.1. Maintenance

Periodically carry out the following works on service of a starter:
1. Check a condition of clips, without allowing their pollution and weakening of fastening.

2. On the removed starter uncover 13 (see fig. 279) from the party of a collector, examine and if necessary smooth out contact surfaces of a collector then blow compressed air.
3. At need tighten nuts of coupling hairpins of the case of a starter.
4. Check fastening of a starter to a coupling case.
5. At operation of the car under trying conditions remove a starter for cleaning of dirt of the drive and the coupling of a free wheeling.
Through each 30 000 km of a run of the car carry out the following works on service of a starter:
1. Remove a starter from the engine.
2. Check a condition of a collector and brushes. Make sure that the brush is not jammed in brush holders. With a height of brushes less than 6 mm replace them.
3. Sort a starter. Replace worn-out details.
4. At assembly oil bearings and pins of a shaft motor. Drive layers, fingers and an axis of the lever slightly grease the Shlitsevy part of a shaft, the plug with Litol-24 lubricant.
